Good to know
- US mattress sizes are an industry convention, not a government standard; only crib mattresses are regulated (16 CFR 1241, ASTM F2933-25).
- Sleep Foundation gives round-inch sizes (twin 38 x 75, queen 60 x 80); Wikipedia's North America table gives half-inch-smaller sizes (twin 38.5 x 74.5, queen 60 x 79.5). The Sleep Foundation sizes are the primary table. Sleep Foundation cm values are converted at 2.54 cm per inch.

How much bigger is a king than a queen?
A king is 76 x 80 in and a queen 60 x 80 in, so a king is 16 in wider and the same length.
King or California king?
A California king is 4 in narrower (72 in) and 4 in longer (84 in) than a king (76 x 80 in).
Is a full the same as a double?
In the US, yes: a full (also called double) is 54 x 75 in.
