How belts are measured
- Belts are not all measured the same way. Tanner Goods sizes from the fold where the leather meets the buckle to the innermost of five holes one inch apart (a 34 is 34 in to the first hole, 36 in to the center hole). Gucci (via Nordstrom) measures from the end of the buckle to the center hole.
- Levi's measuring method: wear well-fitting trousers with belt loops, thread a tape through the loops, measure to the nearest inch without pulling tight, and choose the belt size closest to that measurement.
- Disagreement on S/M/L: Levi's US men's chart puts S at 30 to 32 in waist; Levi's EU women's chart puts S at 80 to 85 cm belts (denim 28 to 30); Gucci women's standard sizes run XXS to XXL. Letter sizes are brand-specific.
