Where the guides disagree

  • SUP beginner volume rules disagree: Starboard says at least 2 x body weight in kg (litres), dropping to 1.3 to 1.5 x as balance improves; Glide says 1.5 L per pound for beginners (= about 3.3 L per kg), 1.2 L/lb intermediate, 1 L/lb advanced. Glide's rule gives much more volume.
  • Surfboard volume: evo gives pounds of body weight per litre (2 lb/L first-time, 3 beginner-intermediate, 4 intermediate, 5+ advanced); Firewire's calculator table gives litres directly. They disagree for beginners: at 150 lb, evo's 2 lb/L means 75 L while Firewire's beginner column gives 47.73 L.
  • Firewire table is copied as published, including a likely slip: the 90 lb row shows 40.00 kg (90 lb is 40.8 kg), and the 100 and 105 lb rows show identical volumes.
